Media – Patrick has regularly collaborated with ZeroOne, the central London Creative Industries Learning Lab and the University of Westminster and its New Media Knowledge programme. He presented work on social media in public policy formation as far back as 2001 and has more recently run workshops on digital video for media education body, Film Education. He has also spoken at and contributed to events organised by the UK's research councils, Big Lottery Fund Scotland and the EU.
Policy – He has presented and performed live webcasts in portuguese for the Brazilian Federal Ministry of Education. He was Co-Conference Chair and Programme/Scientific Committee Chair for the eLearning side event at the UN World Summit on the Information Society jointly with ISO and the Agency of French-speaking Universities. At the Banff Digital Cultural Content Forum, he provoked debate on business models and public private partnerships.
Learning and culture – He has spoken at and chaired events organised by the UK strategic body for education technologies, Becta, the English Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF, formerly DfES), the major trade body for UK educational suppliers (BESA) and the professional body, the British Learning Association. He has made regular appearances at the UK Museums and the Web and MDA conferences.
Academic – Papers and seminars include a discussion of public policy and globalisation for Paris University X, potential research areas in semiotics for the London Knowledge Lab and the keynote address on the Business of Culture in Web 2 for the cross-cultural EVA London conference.
